From November 8 to 10, 2024, the 6th National Conference on Organic Field-Effect Transistors & the 4th Conference on Flexible Printed Optoelectronic Materials and Devices were held in Hangzhou. The conference was organized by Beihang University and the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, with Fudan University serving as a co-organizer. The conference focused on two major themes: "Organic Field-Effect Transistors" and "Flexible Printed Optoelectronic Materials and Devices." It aimed to facilitate academic exchanges, discuss the latest research progress and future directions both domestically and internationally, and promote communication and collaboration among scholars in the fields of organic field-effect transistors and flexible printed optoelectronic materials and devices. The conference also aimed to encourage industry-academia-research cooperation and the industrialization of these technologies.
Zhang Yincheng, a Ph.D. student from the research group, presented a poster titled "All-Photonic Synapses for Biomimetic Ocular System." In the work displayed on the poster, Zhang reported on the tuning of all-photonic synaptic performance through simple molecular engineering, achieving a record-breaking 430% paired-pulse facilitation (PPF). Additionally, large-area (400 cm²), highly uniform (96%) synaptic devices were fabricated, successfully simulating the basic functions of the visual system, including sensory memory, computation, and visual reflexes. The all-photonic synapses directly convert light signals into memory optical parameters (such as transmittance and luminous intensity), which, in artificial visual systems, not only simplifies circuits but also reduces power consumption. Zhang's work garnered significant attention and recognition from conference participants. The Annual Meeting Awards Committee evaluated all posters on-site, and Zhang Yincheng's work was highly praised, ultimately earning him the Excellent Poster Award.
